Krakout Krakout - ReviewKrakout, released by Gremlin in 1987, could have been just another mediocre breakout clone. But it isn't. The title screen Your missionYou control a bat at the left or right side of the screen. With the help of a ball, which you must prevent from leaving the screen, your mission is to remove a number of bricks. Well, if you have played any breakout kind of game you know what it's all about. So, what makes Krakout different from the mediocre clones? Personalizing your settings Well, first of all the enemies are more varied than in the other clones (there are bees that can stun you etc). There are also the usual powerups, which give you multiple balls etc. But what makes Krakout out such a fine game is its combination of good looking graphics, fun and long lasting gameplay and some of the most frenetically pumping music I have ever heard on the C64. Easy going on level 2 Like I said, the music is just incredible, and it's no surprise that it was composed by none other than Ben Daglish (the mastermind behind the music in games like ga etc). Beware of the mutant bees Overall impressionThis is definitely the best game in its genre (breakout clones). I still enjoy playing it, not only because it's great fun but also to hear the music. If you like games like this also take a look at games like ga and ga. RatingThis is my personal rating of this game.
